It takes something special to put together what is broken
Is the Japanese art of fixing broken pottery with lacquer dusted in gold.
As a philosophy, it treats the breakage as a part of the history of the object rather than a flaw to be disguised.
When an earthen or ceramic vessel breaks you can often find the large pieces easily, but they alone do not make the vessel whole. You need to find the smaller pieces. The parts break into a hundred small bits. Some of it might just be reduced to dust. Those small bits are what will make the vessel whole. Otherwise, you might have a vessel that looks its shape but with missing bits all over it. There is almost no way to make it whole again because there will always be bits you will not be able to find or recover.
To overcome the problem of missing bits, the Japanese art of Kintsugi uses lacquer. The gold is mixed to make it stand out. The lacquer is applied across the breakage. While It makes the blemishes stand out; it gives it a rich look.
Failure is inherent in everything. The human experience ensures we deal with failure in a variety of areas. We fail in relationships, career, and life itself. You cannot arise out of failure with precisely what you had before. You can either throw it away or you can make it better. There will always be missing pieces, you need to find a way to fill up the gap.
